Effective September 2026. MsgFileViewer is a free tool. This policy explains exactly what does and doesn't happen to your data.
When you choose or drop a .msg file, it is read directly by your browser using the standard File API and handed to the msgreader parsing library, which is vendored as a static file on this site and runs entirely inside your browser tab. There is no upload step — this site has no server-side file processing, no file storage, and no way to receive a copy of your file even if it wanted to. The parsed subject, sender, recipients, body, and attachments you see are all computed and rendered locally and disappear when you close or refresh the page.
Loading this page causes your browser to make a small number of standard network requests that any website makes: the HTML, CSS and JavaScript files themselves, including the vendored parsing library — all served as static files from this site's own hosting, with no third-party CDN calls made at file-parsing time. Like any web request, loading the page necessarily exposes your IP address and browser information to our hosting provider as a normal part of how the internet works — but at no point does your .msg file, or anything extracted from it, get sent anywhere.
This site uses standard, anonymous Google Analytics (page views, referrer, country, browser type) and Microsoft Clarity (anonymized heatmaps and session recordings of on-page interactions, used to spot broken UI, not to identify you) to understand overall usage. This site also shows ads served by Adsterra, a third-party ad network, which may set its own cookies or use similar technology to serve relevant ads — we don't control what Adsterra does with that beyond serving ads on this site; see Adsterra's own privacy policy for details. We don't add any other ad pixels or cross-site tracking ourselves.
There are no accounts or sign-up to use the free tool. If you buy the optional Pro upgrade, Stripe (our payment processor) collects your email and payment details to process the purchase — we never see or store your card number. We store your email and purchase record so you can restore Pro on another device later (via a 6-digit code sent to that email, no password). That's the only personal data this site ever holds, and it's never sold or shared beyond what's needed to process your purchase.
